CNES
For the CNES seminar “Satellites serving French Guiana,” we designed and built the website in three stages: pre-registration first, then the full site, then its post-event version.
The project
How do you open registration quickly for a five-day seminar, then grow the website along with its program?
The challenge
CNES, the French space agency, held the seminar “Satellites serving French Guiana” in Cayenne: five in-person days in late September, at the Université de Guyane and at Guyane Développement Innovation (GDI). On the program: ten thematic workshops, conferences and a training course, for elected officials, institutions, businesses, researchers, project leaders and students.
Registration had to open quickly, while the program was still taking shape. And the seminar already had its own identity: the website had to extend it, not create a new one.
Objectives:
- collect pre-registrations without waiting for the full site;
- present the program, partners and exhibitors;
- give practical information: dates, venues, access;
- keep the website useful after the event.

The solution
We split the project into three stages, so that each one would go live when it was needed:
- first, a landing page presenting the seminar and collecting pre-registrations;
- the full site before the event: day-by-day program, partners, exhibitors, registration, contact;
- the post-event version, prepared in advance, with its “Event recap” page.
The menu changes at each stage; the home page barely does. The program, partners and exhibitors are managed as lists: add a line and the page updates.
For the visual design, we started from the CNES communications kit: its logo, its typefaces, its carbet visual. From it, we drew mockups for every page and the site’s visual system: deep purple, pink gradients, concentric circles, silhouette illustrations.
The results
The website is live at seminaire-satellites-guyane.cnes.fr. It was delivered before the seminar opened; pre-registration had started earlier.
- when registering, everyone chooses their sessions: workshops, conferences, training;
- the program reads day by day, with the time, venue and organizer of each session;
- every content page has its own title, description and structured data for search engines.
For CNES, we had already designed the experience and the mock-ups of the Guiana Space Centre website.
