Guiana Space
Centre

We redesigned the user experience of the Guiana Space Centre website, Europe’s spaceport, and designed its pages; CNES integrated it, and we supported them all the way.

The project

How do you make Europe’s spaceport website easy to read, from launches to visits?

The challenge

The Guiana Space Centre is Europe’s only launch base, based in French Guiana since 1968. Its website speaks to very different audiences: the curious and visitors, teachers, students, journalists and space professionals.

CNES entrusted us with the experience of this website: its structure, the organization of its pages, then their design. Its own teams handled the integration.

Objectives:

  • a clear sitemap and navigation;
  • shared page templates with their components: text, image, video, key figure, quote, callout, call to action;
  • a design that CNES’s teams could integrate themselves, on desktop and mobile alike.

The solution

What we delivered:

  • sitemap and navigation;
  • template wireframes for desktop and mobile;
  • page web design;
  • integration support and compliance review.

It all started with the user experience: the sitemap, the order of the sections in each template, the content each one holds, then detailed wireframes for desktop and mobile, refined meeting after meeting with the CSG teams.

We then designed the UX/UI mock-ups in Figma: the home page, the Guyaspace page, the content pages, the news, search, contact and the 404 page. A dark, almost night-time background leaves all the room to the photos of the centre and of launches; content sits in cards with rounded corners; a purple glow is the site’s signature; mauve and purple lead the way to each section.

The home page gives the centre’s news, then its launchers, Ariane 6 and Vega-C, its facilities, what it means for French Guiana and entry points by audience: teachers, journalists, students. The Guyaspace page, designed mobile first, leads to the visits: the space museum, the facilities, the savannahs, the launches.

CNES integrated the website itself, on Drupal. We supported them right to the end of this redesign: design and development meetings, then a compliance review between the mock-ups and the code, with our recommendations on rendering, search engine optimization and performance.

The results

The website is live at centrespatialguyanais.cnes.fr, and its legal notice credits Bitwip for the graphic design. It follows the structure we designed: featured news, the centre, the launchers, the facilities, the visits and the entry points by audience.

CNES trusted us again in 2026, for the website of its seminar “Les satellites au service de la Guyane”.

Mock-up of the home page news section: one large card, four cards and a row of round links
Mock-up of the “Nos lanceurs” section: Ariane 6 and Vega-C in two dark cards
Mock-up of the “Qui sommes-nous ?” section: the centre’s stakeholders, its strategic challenges and its history, in gray, mauve and purple cards
