OTOG
A travel guide and its download page to showcase Western French Guiana
The project
How do you make people want to explore Western French Guiana, and put the guide in everyone’s hands?
The challenge
The Western French Guiana Tourist Office (OTOG) opened in January 2020. It welcomes and informs visitors and promotes what Western French Guiana has to offer, with branches in Apatou, Awala-Yalimapo, Mana, Maripa-Soula and Papaïchton.
Its territory stretches from the coast, at Awala-Yalimapo and Mana, to the towns along the Maroni river, and as far as Saül, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. OTOG wanted a guide that makes people want to go and explore it, and a simple way to share it.
Objectives:
- present the towns of the West and their activities in a single guide;
- make the guide easy to read and download;
- make it known on the ground as well as online.

The solution
What we delivered:
- travel guide layout;
- download web page;
- A3 posters with QR code;
- advice on sharing the guide.
We first laid out the guide, designed as an A5 destination magazine. OTOG provided the texts, photos and outline; we created the template and laid out its 84 pages. The guide opens with “Voyager outre-Atlantique” (Traveling across the Atlantic), gives a chapter to each of seven towns, from Awala-Yalimapo to Saül, then moves on to activities, the best addresses and stays.
The layout gives the territory’s photos all the room they need. Flat green, yellow and blue colors, plant shapes and wildlife and flora illustrations guide the reader from page to page.
We then built tourisme-ouest-guyane.fr, a page dedicated to the guide. Visitors leave their name and email, then download the guide for free. The page also presents the highlights of Western French Guiana and the addresses of the office’s branches. On the ground, A3 posters with a QR code lead to the download.
The results
The page has recorded hundreds of downloads of the guide, which can still be downloaded for free on tourisme-ouest-guyane.fr.
